So You Wanna Look Like…The Ghost of Christmas Future?!
Photos by Heidi Hastings
“The Phantom slowly, gravely, silently approached. When it came near him, Scrooge bent down upon his knee; for in the very air through which this Spirit moved it seemed to scatter gloom and mystery. It was shrouded in a deep black garment, which concealed its head, its face, its form, and left nothing of it visible save one outstretched hand. … It thrilled him [Scrooge] with a vague uncertain horror, to know that behind the dusky shroud there were ghostly eyes intently fixed upon him, while he, though he stretched his own to the utmost, could see nothing but a spectral hand and one great heap of black.”
The Ghost of Christmas Future has always terrified me. Perhaps it was his silence that left me feeling a little unhinged. My friend Jen came up with perfect costuming for this look. I wanted her to appear as though she were part of the darkness. The Ghost of the future is dark and for Scrooge, another messenger trying to tell him to change his ways.
The Makeup was simple
1) Pale Foundation
2) Powder your face down with Loreal white shimmer powder.
3) Sweep Maybelline’s Lasting Drama eye gel on the entire eyelid.
4) I used eggplant mascara by Hardcandy on her eyelashes.
5) I kept the mouth light with a pale pink lipstick.
The dress is from H&M
Remember…Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes. “A Christmas Carol” teaches us a valuable lesson. It is NEVER too late to change, to say “I’m sorry”, or to tell the ones we love that…well, we love them! I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on all three spirits of Past, Present, and Future. Love to you all and a very Merry Christmas!
